Quite simply, if we do not refurbish the Theatre Royal it can no longer serve its function as a theatre.
It has been 36 years since the theatre was last refurbished and in that time many aspects of the building have fallen into disrepair;
The Bristol Old Vic has been the lynchpin of theatre in Bristol for 242 years and is in danger of being lost.Without the refurbishment the building will no longer be fit to accommodate a modern audience, resulting in it being physically inaccessible, uncomfortable and unattractive to visit, and – in parts – physically unsafe.With your help we want to bring the Bristol Old Vic into the 21st Century, and to give Bristol a building it can be proud of as a hub of quality and diversity for theatre in the city.
